Delaney's New Friend

Delaney has a new friend! I emailed a lady I found (well, okay, that Derek) found on an expat forum. She mentioned in the forum that she had a 3.5 year old daughter that needed a playmate. We got together both Tuesday and today. Lauren, the little girl, gets along great with Delaney. Delaney was quite sad when it was time to leave today. There were other moms there today - two were from England and the other two were from Australia. We had a great time and have another play date scheduled for Wednesday.

Other than that, not much is happening. We ventured to the shopping area on Wednesday and have been to the pool lots. We're going to look at a preschool for Delaney tomorrow. One of the moms also told me about another one today. Hopefully, she'll be enrolled somewhere in the next 2 weeks. She really misses her friends!

I bought a cell phone (hand phone or mobile is what it's called here)...the number (in case anyone desperately needs to talk to me right away...hahaha) is the international code for Singapore + 98687311. We're also on Skype (midwest.family) if anyone fancies talking for free!

We are going on a little vacation tomorrow. We're headed to Kuala Lumpur for a long weekend. We'll do some sightseeing and go to an amusement park. We will post pics of our time!

Peace Out!

Motorola Discount

Hey everyone. Just found out today that from now until 3/21/07, I have a friend and family discount code that anyone can use to get 15% off all Motorola products (remember its more than just phones!). To get the discount, go to www.store.motorola.com. Once you are done shopping, go to the shopping cart screen and you will see a field in the center asking for a "Promo Code". In this field enter FRND_63129 and then hit "apply promotion". You will then see the 15% taken off the prices and you can finish checking out. Enjoy...

Meet our little friend

Delaney and I ventured out on our own on Thursday. We walked to the MRT station (the subway) to buy a card for her to use the trains and buses. There was a mall nearby so we went in. Nothing terribly exciting - lots of small stores selling shoes, electronics, clothes. We ate lunch at a deli. I had a sandwich - they called it chicken with mayonnaise. It was pretty good. The walk there took about 40 minutes, but now that Delaney has her card, we can take the bus which only takes about 15 minutes.

Yesterday all of us ventured downtown again to see a travel agent and try to buy cell phones. Derek found out that he gets a couple of days off for Chinese New Year so we decided to take a little vacation. The travel agents we first saw seemed pretty shady, but then we found one in a mall that we liked. We picked Phuket in Thailand. The agent was supposed to email us back about availability (I guess the pickings are pretty slim - everyone travels then!) He never did. So Derek spent most of last night trying to find a place. Hopefully something will turn up!

There was a "roommate" in our apartment on Friday. Derek went into the kitchen in the morning, saw something and felt it run over his foot. Our roommate was a lizard. A small one, but still! Management came up and sprayed, came back to check for it, but didn't see it. Oh well...hopefully he doesn't come back!
