Torn ACL

Yes, one would think that it were me or Derek or possibly even Delaney. Nope, it was our wonder-dog Jake. We noticed about two months ago that when on the wood or tile floors, his hind left leg would slide behind him and that when we wiped his feet after coming inside that it was alot easier to pick up his left leg. We joked about it for awhile...but a week ago, he got up and was hobbling on 3 legs. After a couple of minutes, he was fine, limping, but using all four legs. After limping off and on last week, we finally took him to the vet where the torn ACL was diagnosed. He's on an anti-inflammatory med for 10 days. If it's not better, then he goes in for x-rays to see if surgery would be an option. Not only that, the vet said once they tear one ACL, usually the other one will also end up tearing. Yippee!

He was actually pretty good, using all four legs, until last night. He hobbled up the stairs to bed on three legs and was still only using 3 when I left this morning. He's quite pitiful. If he's still hobbling when I get home, I may have to call the vet again...she said if it gets worse to call. Wish us luck!
