We didn't do much yesterday (Saturday). We were awake by 4:30...well Delaney was up then, so we knew we wouldn't be getting much more sleep, so we sucked it up and got up too. Derek had contacted a Motorolan before we came over who had been here in Singapore the past 6 months. He showed us around a little bit and helped us get some things set up here. Unfortunately he left today, so we're on our own. Delaney finally convinced Derek to take her in the pool. So they went swimming in the evening. I had chicken rice last night (from the place that had the heads on the chickens, fortunately, no heads on my chicken!) and Derek had black pepper beef over rice. Delaney ate some of mine.
Delaney woke up today about 5:30. Today we grocery shopped (I bought a toaster) and headed to Orchard Road, which is similar to Michigan Ave in Chicago because it has tons of shopping. It was very pretty with tons of tall trees and other tropical plants right beside the road. We went down there primarily to eat California Pizza Kitchen. It was yummy! We felt like we had just won a Reward Challenge on Survivor and got to eat good food for the first time in ages. We just walked around and took in the sights. We actually saw and heard some Americans, which we have not seen in our development. We took the MRT there (the subway system). We had a lot of trouble finding the MRT station that's close to our apartment. After an hour of searching in the rain, we got a cab, which was very cheap...only about 2 American dollars! Chicago cabbies would have charged close to 10!
It's rainy season right now, so we've not seen the sun yet. It's very warm and humid though. It rained most of the day today and yesterday it didn't rain much, but as I said, was cloudy.
As Delaney would say....Peace out boy and girl scouts!!!
