Update

There's not much to update...we had a busy holiday this year...busier and filled with more travel than usual.  Delaney and I drove to Salem the Saturday before Christmas.  Derek was supposed to join us there on Christmas Eve, but b/c of Chicago's lovely weather, his flight was cancelled.  He missed Christmas morning, but was there for the afternoon and dinner.  Christmas was great (does anyone really ever say that it wasn't???), we had a good time with the family.  Delaney loved seeing and playing with Caroline, my cousin's daughter.  Saturday after Christmas we flew from Pittsburgh to Disney World to spend the week with Derek's family.  It was quite an experience getting there (too long of a story...to sum it up, the airline had no record of our reservation...NONE!), but we made it nonetheless, 14 hours after we were supposed to be there!   We had a great time.  Weather was good, no rain, although one day was definitely a jeans day.  Highlights from the week: fairly good food, fun rides (for those who could enjoy them), Derek and I went to the Capital One Bowl (Michigan State lost, but it was fun to go), Delaney went to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a semi-princess makeover (hair, nails, and makeup only...I wasn't about to spend 2 1/2 times what I already was paying just so she could get a dress!) and had a blast, managing to make it to all 4 parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios) and very late nights which led to exhaustion by the end of the week.  Derek, his dad, and brother all ended up with a bout of food poisoning, though, and felt the effects for a couple of days.  Great holidays, although we missed our New Year's tradition with the Stertzbachs....next year it returns!

Post holidays have just been our regular routine.  Derek and I work, Delaney goes to school.  Nothing exciting about that!  I'm six months now, and Delaney is getting excited to be a big sis!  Derek and Delaney are actually skiing right now somewhere in Wisconsin.  They just went up for the night.  Hopefully, she enjoys it.

The following are some pics from the past month.  If you want to see more, just give us a shout-out and we'll email them!

Narcolepsy (Delaney Style)

It happened again tonight!!! What is it you ask.....Well it started out quite simple and routine....I start by giving her a bath. Once finished she gets out and we dry her off. She asks to stay in the bathroom while I go and get her pajama's because its warm....2 minutes later I return with underwear and pj's and she is laying on the ground sleeping!!! OUT COLD! Laying like a turtle with her towel over her body. This has happened twice in the last week.

That girl is crazy...when her body says its tired, it means it. Doesnt matter where she is or what she is doing she is out. I remember back when she was pretty young (maybe 1) and she fell asleep during dinner while sitting in her high chair.

Happy Birthday!!!

Happy birthday to Derek today! And thanks to Emily for giving me the idea to say it to the world on the blog:) (Happy birthday to Adam, too, Em's hubby.) I hope he has a great day at work, his car sells tonight (which will be sad, it was his first BIG purchase and he loves it, but he will love the $$$ that will enter the checking account if it does sell), he enjoys his cake and his present that Delaney picked out, and has an overall great day. Delaney, baby, and I love you!!!

By the way....GO BUCKS!!!!

Delaney-isms

We went to mass on Sunday.  The priest was talking about something (he had a point, I just don't remember what is was) and he said the words "hunk" and "eye-candy"...they were totally in context, I just don't remember that context.  Anyway, Delaney turned to me and asked "Is he reading from the Bible, Mom?"  This is why one BIG reason we've decided to attend on a more regular basis!  And if we don't meet that goal, CCD (or whatever it's called these days...religious education, I think) begins next year.

The picture above is from the OSU/Northwestern game this weekend.  She was such a trooper.  She didn't complain once about being cold or not really being able to see much or how long the game was.  The walk back to the car was a different story, but all in all, she did well for a five year old.  Her jacket's open because she wanted everyone to see her Beanie jersey, not because we're bad parents (she had 3 layers under the jersey!).

"I'm serious" is her new favorite thing to say.

She likes to feel my belly...she's excited to be a big sister, as long as it's not a boy.  I'm pretty sure that I can feel the baby kicking inside me.  I knew for sure with Delaney that she was moving at 16 1/2 weeks, and I'm just past 16 weeks now.  She can't wait till she can feel the baby move too.
