The vet recommended surgery for Jake. We take him in next Friday for a consult with the orthopedic vet and most likely, he will have the surgery that day.
He really is pitiful. He always would follow us wherever we would go. Now he pretty much stays in one place. He doesn't want to go outside. He went out last evening around 6 and didn't go back out until this morning. He still managed to eat last night, but it took him awhile. Normally, he scarfs it down within minutes!

Torn ACL
Yes, one would think that it were me or Derek or possibly even Delaney. Nope, it was our wonder-dog Jake. We noticed about two months ago that when on the wood or tile floors, his hind left leg would slide behind him and that when we wiped his feet after coming inside that it was alot easier to pick up his left leg. We joked about it for awhile...but a week ago, he got up and was hobbling on 3 legs. After a couple of minutes, he was fine, limping, but using all four legs. After limping off and on last week, we finally took him to the vet where the torn ACL was diagnosed. He's on an anti-inflammatory med for 10 days. If it's not better, then he goes in for x-rays to see if surgery would be an option. Not only that, the vet said once they tear one ACL, usually the other one will also end up tearing. Yippee!
He was actually pretty good, using all four legs, until last night. He hobbled up the stairs to bed on three legs and was still only using 3 when I left this morning. He's quite pitiful. If he's still hobbling when I get home, I may have to call the vet again...she said if it gets worse to call. Wish us luck!

Proud Dad Warning.....
Not to come across as a proud dad (but I am!)......
We recently find out that Delaney was selected to be part of the Dual Language Immersion Program in our school district. There is only one dual immersion kindergarten class in the whole district so competition was tough. The class is 13 native English speakers and 13 native Spanish speakers.
About 3 weeks ago, Melissa and I had to go in for an interview with some teachers and the administrators that run the program. While we were being interviewed they took Delaney and tested her to see if she had the "characteristics" to excel in the program. The program itself is pretty unique. Starting next year in kindergarten, a majority of her day ~90% will be in Spanish and the rest in English. Every year the Spanish % comes down and the English portion increases.... by the time she hits 5th grade she will be fluent.
We are super proud of her and she is really excited to learn more Spanish. She is use to the dual immersion concept because while we were in Singapore she went to a school where part of her day was in English and part was in Mandarin. This is definitely a skill set that will help later in life.
