Another Day Another Photo

When Melissa went to pick Delaney up from after school care today, one of the workers asked if they could hang the picture of Delaney that appeared in the paper. Melissa said sure and was quietly wondering how they would have ever found out that a picture of her was in the Salem News approx. one week ago when they were visiting Melissa's parents on Spring Break. See link to Salem picture below (might need to use Mozilla to open):

But after some more discussion with the after school worker, Melissa realized that she wasn't talking about the Salem photo but instead another photo that appeared today in the Chicago Daily Herald. See below:

This photo was taken last year at the Easter Egg Hunt.

Both of these came after she started off the Spring Season appearing in the Park District Activities guide. See link below and go to page 50:

Delaney was super excited when I got home today to tell me and show me that she was in the Daily Herald. She jumped around and yelled look daddy look!

I need to check the mailbox for royalty payments....

7 more weeks (perhaps 5 1/2????)

This is a picture from the 3D ultrasound we had done about 3 weeks ago...sorry for the late post.  According to the u/s, my due date is 4/16.  My doctor still says that it will be 4/27...we shall see!  I am feeling pretty good, just tired and ready for school to be done!  I have 4 more weeks of teaching (and spring break is thrown in there too!).  I have a good bunch of kids this year, but I am ready to be done.  Derek's has the room and a dresser painted, and I have laundry done.  We just need to figure out what else to do.  Delaney is excited and has finally admitted that a brother would be okay, but she would prefer a sister.

Does anyone else see the resemblance between little Delaney and this one???

Poor Laney, Yippee Stacie!!!!

Poor Delaney.....

I picked her up from Circle (the after school program) Tuesday and the teachers there said she's been sleeping and had had an accident. Got her home and she slept until 6:30 when I made her take a bath. I took her temp and it was 104.5...yikes! But she's been known to have high fevers. She slept most of the evening, woke up at 1 and promptly threw up (thank god for daddies who clean up). Fever again was back to 104.5. She managed to sleep until 7 and threw up again (luckily she made it to the bathroom, daddy was not home to do damage control). Fever high again. She was doing fine at 11:30, just a slight fever, but at 1:30 we were back to 104.5. We headed to the doc who sent us to the ER b/c he suspected a kidney infection (uti was confirmed at the doc) and she was dehydrated and he wanted her to get IV antibiotics and fluids. We spent 5 hours there...she is such a trooper. Everyone commented on how great she was with everything that they poked and prodded her with. Final diagnosis when we left.....No kidney infection, but a UTI. This morning, her fever was 100, and she was quite thirsty before I left for school. Derek's home with her today, and my dad is in town for meetings today (woo-hoo) and will stay with her tomorrow.

Yippee for Stacie.....
My best friend for 25 years now (ouch...that must mean I'm getting old!) is engaged!!!! She got engaged in Vegas to David. Still waiting on the details and can't wait to hear them! Delaney summed it up best when I told her...she screamed and said "Awesome!!!" Congrats Stacie and David!!!!!

Update

There's not much to update...we had a busy holiday this year...busier and filled with more travel than usual.  Delaney and I drove to Salem the Saturday before Christmas.  Derek was supposed to join us there on Christmas Eve, but b/c of Chicago's lovely weather, his flight was cancelled.  He missed Christmas morning, but was there for the afternoon and dinner.  Christmas was great (does anyone really ever say that it wasn't???), we had a good time with the family.  Delaney loved seeing and playing with Caroline, my cousin's daughter.  Saturday after Christmas we flew from Pittsburgh to Disney World to spend the week with Derek's family.  It was quite an experience getting there (too long of a story...to sum it up, the airline had no record of our reservation...NONE!), but we made it nonetheless, 14 hours after we were supposed to be there!   We had a great time.  Weather was good, no rain, although one day was definitely a jeans day.  Highlights from the week: fairly good food, fun rides (for those who could enjoy them), Derek and I went to the Capital One Bowl (Michigan State lost, but it was fun to go), Delaney went to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a semi-princess makeover (hair, nails, and makeup only...I wasn't about to spend 2 1/2 times what I already was paying just so she could get a dress!) and had a blast, managing to make it to all 4 parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios) and very late nights which led to exhaustion by the end of the week.  Derek, his dad, and brother all ended up with a bout of food poisoning, though, and felt the effects for a couple of days.  Great holidays, although we missed our New Year's tradition with the Stertzbachs....next year it returns!

Post holidays have just been our regular routine.  Derek and I work, Delaney goes to school.  Nothing exciting about that!  I'm six months now, and Delaney is getting excited to be a big sis!  Derek and Delaney are actually skiing right now somewhere in Wisconsin.  They just went up for the night.  Hopefully, she enjoys it.

The following are some pics from the past month.  If you want to see more, just give us a shout-out and we'll email them!
